Our Dementia Care Standard
Nationally recognized for dementia care, delivered at home.
Paragon Home Care has earned the Seal of Excellence from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) and is a member of NCCDP's Memory Care Excellence Network. We are among a select group of organizations nationwide recognized for their commitment to excellence in dementia care.
What it took to earn it
The Seal of Excellence isn't bought or self-declared. NCCDP reviews how an organization trains its people and how it performs, and members must renew every year. To earn it, we:
- Credentialed our caregivers. Over 50% of our caregivers hold the Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) credential, and that number is growing each month as we continue to provide training to our care team monthly.
- Train in-house with a certified dementia trainer. Our training is led by an NCCDP-certified Alzheimer's disease and dementia care trainer on our own staff.
- Opened our record to review. NCCDP reviewed our most recent Virginia Department of Health survey along with detailed surveys of our leadership and caregivers.
- Commit to renewing every year. It's a standard we keep meeting, not an award we won once.
What it means for your family
Caregivers who understand
Dementia-trained caregivers learn how memory loss changes the way a person communicates and experiences the world, so they respond with patience instead of frustration.
Calm, not conflict
Training in prevention and redirection helps ease moments of confusion, anxiety or agitation before they escalate, which means fewer hard days for everyone.
Routines that feel like home
Familiar faces and steady routines help people living with dementia stay safe, comfortable and as independent as possible in the home they love.
Frequently asked questions
What is NCCDP?

Is every Paragon caregiver a Certified Dementia Practitioner?
Not yet every one. Over 50% of our caregivers hold the Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) credential, and that number is growing each month as we continue to provide training to our care team monthly.
What if my loved one's needs change over time?
